Session
1996
The first session that got admission to the
Minhaj University in the very beginning of Tahreek's political era on 17th
August 1989, Just after the holding of 1st Revolution Founding Conference
and the establishment of Pakistan
Awami Tahreek (PAT), remained steadfast and unflinching during its
seven-year long student age despite of seeing innumerable ups and downs in
the Tahreek. This was just because of the students' political insight and
maturity of thought. The most important feature that distinguishes this
session from all other classes is the habitation of the University's new campus
situated at Baghdad Town, Lahore. The class populated the semi-constructed building
of the new campus in 1990. (Nowadays the academic block of COSMOS is
situated in the building.)
By the grace of God Almighty the session had many intelligent students
that set tremendous examples in history of the University. It, at first,
set the tradition of doing LLB, and masters in English, Education and
International Relations, and getting the education of Computer Sciences.
Moreover the painstaking efforts for finalizing the master's thesis are
worth-noting.
The splendid convocation of the session was held on 15th March 1998 at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Lahore, which was
a historic event because this was the first
time when the convocation of the university held out of its campus. First
three position holders of post-graduation level are:
Mr Hafiz Muhammad Arshad, a genius student, got 1st
position in competitive examination held by Punjab Public Service
Commission, among 1600 candidates and was appointed as a lecturer in
Islamic Studies at Gordon
College, Rawalpindi. Mr Rahmatullah Achakzai, Quetta, was appointed as a lecturer in
Islamic Studies in Balochistan University, Quetta. Mr Hafiz Muhammad Binyamin of Haripur was also appointed as a lecturer at Army Burn
Hall College, Abbottabad. The first Minhajian who was elected as Central
President of Minhaj Youth League,
Mr Muhammad Naeem Ali, also belongs to this session. Nowadays he is
performing the duties of Deputy Chief Organizer of TMQ.
Mr Muhammad Farooq Rana colored the mosaic of his thesis with the
tile of meticulous care and standard. The Chancellor of the University,
Dr Muhammad
Tahir-ul-Qadri appreciated it so much and made payment of its expenses
by the University. The first member of Minhajians, Mr Abdul Sattar, and the best athlete of the University,
Mr Syed Khadim Hussain Shah, also belong to this session.
Mr Hafiz Muhammad Nadeem, a famous personality for his tremendous
services in Idara Minhaj-ul-Quran (IMQ), Kuwait, broke the record of his
senior minhajian, Mr Anwar-ul-Mustafa Hamdami, by making 950 life members of IMQ in
just one month.
The session took a unique and historical vow of loyalty to the Quaid
and mission at the residence of Quaid-e-Inqilab.
This day was named Vow Renewal Day in the history of the session.
